Will solar power take over?

Solar power is a far cry from becoming the world’s dominant form of energy production.

Less than 1 percent of the electricity generated on the grid currently comes from solar energy. Having said that, thousands of people and businesses across the U.S. go solar every year.

At some point solar can replace other forms of energy as the most prevalent energy source. Before that happens though, there is a long way to go.

Why isn’t solar more widely used?

Changing the idea that this isn’t a sustainable source of energy takes a long time. Solar has been around for a long time, and wasn’t available for the vast majority of its life. This must result in a continuing assumption that it is too expensive and not realistic.

Also, utility firms generally don’t like people going solar, because it reduces the amount of power they can sell. Many of them did all they could to try to squash the solar from going mainstream.

Even though solar is a long way from taking over the world, that doesn’t mean it isn’t your best option. For many men, the absolute best way to generate electricity is still to them. Don’t let the fact that most people don’t know about Solar yet deter you from making the best choice for you and your family.
